Swami Paramananda needs no introduction. He has already created a stir in the world of writing as a prolific writer with an unmatched style. The Meditation Master and founder of the SGAS (which runs the Know Thyself Meditation Centres) writes from intuition and subtle inspiration. Swami Paramananda gives us a peek of his writing through this interview.

What motivates you to write?

First and foremost, my mission is to lead mankind to a global mind transformation through the science of meditation. For that matter, writing serves as a powerful vehicle to carry out my mission It is about raising the level of consciousness of people. The mission being global, writing is a means par excellence to reach out to a larger number of people in Mauritius and worldwide.

The concept of mind transformation is new and needs to be explained. Through my writings, I try to sensitise people, direct them towards the solution and offer my guidance. My writings can help people wherever they are, even though they cannot come to me.

As a matter of fact, there are certain truths that cannot be said through speech; there is also the constraint of time in a discourse – detailed explanations take time and require the focused attention of the audience. Words are heard and then quickly forgotten or even missed, while books stay for much longer and people can digest the contents at their own pace.

Masters spare no effort in shedding light onto the higher truths of life and in the same vein, my writings seek to restore the true significance of religion. Lastly, it is a very good leisure for me as it enables me to tap into the source of inspiration and intuition.

What are the books you have authored?

I have written about 50 books so far, out of which 21 have already been published. My first book was ‘Hidden Teachings in the Bible’, followed by ‘Man, God and the Universe’, ‘Wisdom of the Ancients’, ‘Sex – Breaking the Taboo’, ‘Buddha – his scientific approach to life and the Nirvana’. Some of the other titles are ‘Solah Samkaras’, ‘Human Beings: Behaviour and Evolution’, ‘Prayer’, ‘Guru : a Friend, a Guide and a Door’, ‘Four Steps to Health and Enlightenment’, ‘Spiritual Experiences’, ‘Hinduism : Philosophy or Mysticism?’, ‘Expectant Mothers’, ‘The Spiritual Aspects of Maha Shivaratri’, ‘Pearls of Wisdom’, ‘Spirituality and Secrets behind Hindu Religious Festivals’, ‘Understanding Marriage’, ‘Truth’, ‘Durga Puja’ and ‘Self-Education’. The latest one is ‘From the Vedas’.

In each book, I shed light on a specific subject which is important for the spiritual evolution of a human being. I must underline that each book is meant for reflection and is an invitation to the reader to embark on the journey to self-realisation, the very purpose of human life.
