The Satyam Gyanam Anandam Society (SGAS) is an organisation that provides seekers the opportunity, guidance and support to discover their self through the science of meditation. It is a universal spiritual organisation that is working relentlessly towards a ‘new earth and a new humanity’ through a global mind transformation. Our motto is ‘Know Thyself’ – the eternal call of the ancient masters to human beings of all races and origins. The SGAS wants to make people aware that they are themselves both the cause of all problems and also the ultimate solution. Indeed, the solution lies within us but a radical change in mindset is needed to change our focus from outside to inside.
Operating under the enlightened guidance of the Meditation Master, the SGAS is thus working towards a global mind transformation through the science of meditation as real peace, harmony, love and brotherhood will come in the world only through the transformation of individual minds. We are a non-profit NGO based in the paradise island of Mauritius ( click here to read about the prophecy about Mauritius) and has an affiliate in the United Kingdom, UK SGAS Charity. It currently operates under the Know Thyself Meditation Centre (Mauritius), which is essentially a laboratory for the divine alchemy of mind transformation.
The SGAS is open to everyone, irrespective of beliefs, religion, race, creed, caste and other such limitations. Believers and non-believers alike are welcome to join us.
What does ‘Satyam Gyanam Anandam’ mean?
Satyam, Gyanam and Anandam are Sanskrit words used in the Upanishads to qualify Absolute Reality as well as the state of self-realisation of a master. Satyam is the undeniable, non-negatable reality underlying all things, the ultimate substratum of creation independent of past, present or future. Gyanam or omniscience is the confluence where all knowledge found in scriptures converge. Finally, Anandam is the bliss that arises simultaneously with knowledge of the Highest Reality. Anandam is by no means comparable and is therefore far above mundane joyfulness and pleasures.
The organisation’s very appellation is a beautiful description of the ideal to be attained by every individual. It is an implicit invitation to experience primordial Truth (Satyam), to acquire Supreme Knowledge (Gyanam) and enjoy Unsurpassable Bliss (Anandam).
Significance of the Emblem of SGAS
The emblem, depicting a circle wherein a bird is flying and in the middle of which a sun is shining, is the esoteric symbol for the definition of Satyam, Gyanam and Anandam.
The circle symbolises the Ultimate Reality, which is denoted as a “circle whose centre is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” The sun radiating in the middle of it represents the state of enlightenment of the master whose rays of realisation permeate everywhere. Lastly, the bird flying in the open sky is the liberated soul enjoying the bliss of freedom.
Historical Background
Founded by Swami Paramananda, the SGAS started in 1988 in an embryonic form. It was a time when Swami Paramananda embarked himself upon his life-long journey to impart spiritual knowledge and experience to seekers. In this manner, he was perpetuating the mission started by his own master, His Holiness Swami Veervasantha.
The SGAS was registered as a non-government organisation (NGO) in 1992 in Mauritius. It also has an affiliates in UK and Canada. The organisation currently has about 1200 members and adherents.
