On Friday 16th July 2010, a special session on Self Education was held at the Know Thyself Meditation Centre, Dubreuil from 10:00 to 13:00 hrs. Accompanied by five educators, forty-six students of Queen Elizabeth College, Rose-Hill, aged between 14 and 15 participated in the workshop. It was conducted by the Spiritual Master, His Holiness Swami Paramananda.
Swamiji explained the need for knowing oneself, what true education is and how to celebrate life. Through thought-provoking discussions, he led the students to ponder upon their own existence. Around one and a half hours were allocated to question time, where Swamiji responded to questions addressed by participants ranging from the connection between sexuality, homosexuality, lesbianism and meditation; how to relax; how to avoid depression and stress; what is love at first sight; how to accept oneself as one is and so forth. The participants were also taught deep breathing technique and its benefits. They then practised the technique under the guidance of Swami Paramananda.
Much enthusiasm and inquisitiveness were noted from the participants during the session. They were simply amazed by the dynamic and straightforward approach of the Spiritual Master – very different from their preconceived ideas of a swami!
Who else other than an Enlightened Master can shed light on all matters from the mundane to the most elevated spiritual teachings and practices! Youths should grab the opportunity to benefit from the guidance of Swami Paramananda and seek to know about Self Education.
