The Society for Dissemination of Self Education (SDSE), an affiliate of the Student Union of the University of Mauritius, organised a one hour talk at the UOM Complex on Tuesday 26th of January 2010. It was on a much probing theme as “Sex: Breaking the Taboo”.photo1 300x240 Talk on “Sex: Breaking the Taboo” at the University of Mauritius
The SDSE invited H. H. Swami Paramananda, author of the well acclaimed book “Sex: Breaking the Taboo,” to discourse on this prominent subject. After all, who can elucidate us on such an important yet ‘delicate’ subject as sex other than a Swami – one who is master of one’s Self and from whom nothing is a secret! The discourse was highly welcomed and appreciated by an audience of about 90 students and staff members. Indeed, his openness coupled with the logical and scientific manner which Swamiji approached the subject captured the attention of the audience from the start to the end.

At the very beginning of the talk, Swamiji explained that a group of people chose to keep the masses in ignorance with the underlying motive of manipulating them. Despite the fact that man is made up of the sexual energy from head to toe yet there is much mystery enveloping the subject.

Though our planet seems to have no purpose in itself, it certainly has the most beautiful of roles – that of serving as a base for man to manifest the ultimate possibility of his being.  This, however, requires a sane environment and a well-balanced ecological system. One of the many reasons why people have become so ungodly is that we live in an environment which pulls us away from our centre. And there is nothing more divine than the centre of our being, which is also the essence of existence.

Who would believe that this whole setting was brought for our unfolding!  Is that not simply wonderful?  In a poetic language, one could say that the whole setting was designed for the meeting of the lover and the beloved, that is, man and God. Till now no place has been found to contain the same environment as ours where life could emerge, flourish and propagate.  Spiritual evolution requires such an environment.  However, caught in his greed and arrogance, man has nearly destroyed the environment, creating an imbalance in the ecological system.  And now it would seem that we are nearing extinction.
