Commonly, Deepavali is celebrated in honour of Shri Rama, who came home victorious after the battle against Ravana. The word deepavali means ‘rows of light.’ If Deepavali is celebrated in honour of Shri Rama, then we can presume that before the Ramayana era there was no such festival as the Deepavali.
However, the truth behind the festival of light is much deeper than what most people believe.
